Grounds for election

Ian works in the public sector to ensure good management of our national archaeological resource. In his time he has held a number of roles. Since 2017 he has been Historic Places Manager at Lincolnshire County Council, managing a team of ten who ensure the stewardship of the county's historic environment. Previously, from 1996, as Lincoln City Archaeologist he set up Made in Lincoln, a Millennium Commission-funded project to celebrate the city's industrial heritage. More recently, as an Inspector of Ancient Monuments for Historic England for 18 years, he oversaw a huge number of projects from urban and landscape surveys to specific site excavations across the West Midlands. Additionally, he co-ordinated the work of the English Heritage Advisory Committee for ten years. Alongside his professional duties, over the past decade he has participated in many conferences in the south-west USA developing expertise in the historic preservation system and Native American cultural heritage.
