For the past 35 years she has worked on a wide range of projects with a particular focus on Medieval and Early Modern painted schemes. Recent projects include Shakespeare’s Birthplace, the Bloody Tower at the Tower of London and Paycocke’s, Coggeshall, Essex. Her academic interests are domestic wall paintings 1500-1700. Her doctoral research on 16th and 17th century secular wall paintings in Suffolk is being developed for a book. Interest in the methods and materials of medieval and early modern domestic wall paintings resulted in an article on 16th and 17th century pigments in ‘middling’ interiors in the Hamilton Kerr Institute Bulletin. An investigation of the 12th century decoration at Oakham Castle, Rutland was published in The Antiquaries Journal with Nick Hill. Current research includes a survey of pre 1611 Harwich buildings and their interior decoration for the Mayflower 400 Commemoration, including the house of the Master of the Mayflower.
