Grounds for election
Leading authority on Viking Age archaeology, conducting excavations at Repton, Derby and Vypovsyv (Ukraine). Her work has taken forward the research of the Biddles at Repton to a fuller understanding of the Viking army encampment of 873-4, there and at Foremark. Her particular specialism is in archaeological isotopic chemistry which has enabled her to characterise Viking Age and more generally early medieval mobility and diet. She has also worked on the Rapu Nui skeletal remains, excavated by Heyerdahl in the 1950's, studying dietary and mobility isotopic signatures. Dr Jarman represents a new generation of scholar who is able to combine outstanding investigative fieldwork with leading edge scientific analysis published in world class journals.
