Grounds for election

The last ten years of his career was with the Heritage Lottery Fund as Policy Advisor, specialising in Industrial Heritage. Publications are A Guide to the Industrial Archaeology of Essex (2012), Chelmsford Industrial Trail (co-author, 2019); articles in Industrial Archaeology Review, Essex Journal, Brewery History, and Essex Society for Archaeology and History Transactions; chapters in three books of papers. Researched and produced reports on industries in Essex and Hertfordshire: malting, brewing, textiles, public water supply, workers’ housing, market town industries. Chairman of the Association for Industrial Archaeology 2008 – 2011 and member of AIA Council; founder member and Chairman of the Essex Industrial Archaeology Group from 2013; Council member of the Essex Society for Archaeology and History. Expert advisory member of the English Heritage Industrial Archaeology Panel for nine years; since 2015 volunteer advisor to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Industrial Heritage.
