Grounds for election

Ian Worthington is Professor of Ancient History at Macquarie University and was formerly Curators’ Distinguished Professor at the University of Missouri. He is a leading scholar in the field of Greek history and oratory in the 4th century BC. He has published seven sole-authored books, nine edited books, two translated volumes of Greek speeches, and over 100 articles, book chapters, and reviews. His Demosthenes of Athens and the Fall of Classical Greece (Oxford University Press 2013) was nominated for the Criticos Book Prize. He is editor-in-chief of the major online Brills New Jacoby project, which provides up-to-date texts, translations and commentaries of over a thousand fragmentary Greek historical texts. He has made significant contributions to the wider dissemination of his field through numerous interviews on radio, TV, and in newspapers and has given over 100 talks and invited lectures in North America, the UK, several European countries, Australia, and Japan,
