Grounds for election

Dr Bowden is a leading archaeologist with extensive experience in Italy, Albania, Jordan and the UK, and directs the 12-year British Academy-funded project at Venta Icenorum (Norfolk) and the 4-year excavations of the Roman villa at Diaporit (Albania). His publications include The Sixth Century: Production, Distribution and Demand (Leiden 1998 ed. with R. Hodges); Epirus Vetus: The Archaeology of a Late Antique Province (London 2003); Byzantine Butrint: Excavations and Survey 1994-1999, (Oxford 2004 ed. with R. Hodges and K. Lako); Butrint 3: Excavations at the Triconch Palace (Oxford 2011 with R. Hodges); 3 co-edited volumes in Brill’s Late Antique Archaeology series, and more than 50 papers in journals/edited volumes. He serves on the AHRC’s peer review college; referees for world-leading journals; sits on the editorial board of Britannia and, previously, on the councils of the Societies for the Promotion of Roman Studies and Medieval Archaeology, and the British School at Athens.
