Benjamin Dabby is a specialist in 19th century studies, elected FRHistS which recently published his PhD thesis as, 'Women as public moralists in Britain: from the bluestockings to Virginia Woolf' contextualising Victorian antiquarianism within professionalisation of history, earning a place on the Cambridge Historical Tripos reading list. His latest research is into two of Britain's 19th century women art historians, Anna Jameson and Elizabeth Eastlake, to form the first chapter in a forthcoming collection of essays to be published by the RHS entitled 'Precarious professionals:gender,identity and social change in modern Britain'. He has also published on the 16th century, with his 2015 life of Sir Richard Cholmeley of the Tower of London. Alongside his leadership of Highgate School's History Dept he has established a reputation as author and reviewer for the Historical Journal, the Journal of Victorian Culture, Victoriographies and the British Assocn for Victorian Studies.
