Grounds for election

Tim has been involved in archaeology, as both researcher and educator, since the completion of his PhD in 2006. He is currently the Chingiz Gutseriev Fellow at the University of Oxford, and was previously Lecturer in Archaeology at the University of Manchester. Tim has conducted archaeological and oral historical fieldwork in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uzbekistan and the UK. Some of his assorted projects in these locales, which are usually collaborative and interdisciplinary, have explored: monuments and place-making (Arch Rev Camb 28); archaeological practise and impact (JRAI 23); social responses to long-term environmental change (The River, 2018); artefacts, identity and experience (JEAS 5 / World Arch 41); interpretation of rock art (Antiquity 89); and the popular mediation of the past (Archaeology and the Media, 2007). Tim has also co-curated exhibitions on the archaeology of Ethiopian pastoralists at the South Omo Research Centre, Ethiopia and University of Valencia, Spain.
