Grounds for election

Simon Horobin has published widely in the field of medieval English manuscript studies, especially on the manuscripts of the works of Chaucer and Langland. His book on the language of Chaucerian manuscripts, The Language of the Chaucer Tradition, won the 2005 English Association's Beatrice White Prize for outstanding scholarly work in the field of Medieval and Renaissance studies. Horobin was co-investigator (with Professor Linne Mooney) on a project supported by the AHRC to identify the scribes responsible for coping Middle English manuscripts. Horobin's identification of the Abbotsford House manuscript of Osbern Bokenham's Lives of Saints was reported in the Times Literary Supplement and The Sunday Times and resulted in major articles in Speculum and English Manuscript Studies 1100-1700; volume 1 of his 3-volume edition of this work will be published by the Early English Text Society in 2020.
