Grounds for election

Adrian Parker is a Professor at Oxford Brookes University where he leads the Human Origins and Palaeoenvironments (HOPE) Research Group. He was awarded his DPhil in 1995 from the University of Oxford where he undertook palaeoenvironmental and geoarchaeological research in the Upper Thames Basin studying records spanning the last 13,000 years. He has published widely in the fields of geoarchaeology and environmental archaeology using multi-proxy techniques including phytoliths, pollen and geochemistry to reconstruct past environmental changes and track human occupation phases from archaeological sites and sedimentary sequences. To date his work has mostly focussed on sites in the Arabia spanning the Palaeolithic and Neolithic (including the rock shelter site of Jebel Faya in the UAE) but also includes research in North Africa, Southern Africa and southern England. He is the author of three books/monographs and around 100 research articles and book chapters.
