Stuart is a founding partner of L - P : Archaeology (turnover in 2020: £2.6m with 72 employees), and is known for his work using digital techniques to improve field recording practices, with a particular focus on sharing and presenting data to the public. He completed his PhD (UCL, 2014) investigating the use of virtual and mixed reality to explore past experiences of the Bronze Age landscape of Bodmin Moor. He is currently a post-doctoral researcher with the University of Bournemouth, using digital techniques to reconstruct and investigate the prehistoric landscape of Avebury. For the past 5 years he has been the archaeological field director of excavations at the Battlefield of Waterloo, Belgium, working with serving and wounded military personnel to excavate the battlefield, aiding their mental and physical recovery. He has published articles in Journal of Archaeological Science and World Archaeology, amongst others. He regularly presents his research at international conferences.
