Grounds for election

Ann Compton has curated numerous contemporary and historical exhibitions, and written extensively on nineteenth and twentieth century art with a special interest in sculpture. She is the editor of Mapping the Practice and Profession of Sculpture in Britain and Ireland 1851-1951, the online database at the University of Glasgow, and is on the steering panel for Art UK’s Your Sculpture project. Her recent publications include ‘Crafting Modernism: Hepworth’s Practice in the 1920s’ in P. Curtis and C. Stephens, Eds., Barbara Hepworth, exhibition catalogue, Tate, 2015; guest editing ‘National Sculpture in Cosmopolitan Paris’, Sculpture Journal, 2018; ‘Continuity and change: the foundation of the Sculptors’ Institute and the Royal Society of British Sculptors’, in K. Eustace, M. Stocker, and J. Barnes Eds., Sculpting art history : essays in memory of Benedict Read, London, 2018.
