Grounds for election

Richard Massey has worked for 25 years in both the curatorial and commercial archaeology sectors. As Ancient Monuments Inspector for English Heritage he undertook pilot projects for the Heritage at Risk programme, including the legacy of nineteenth-century fortifications on the south coast, for which he was able to support highly original and effective ‘Constructive Conservation’ solutions. Richard’s strong record of postgraduate work was based on his long-term interest in the archaeology of late prehistory and the analysis of patterns of cultural and settlement change at a landscape scale. A current project concerns the survey and mapping of field systems and settlement forms within the Silchester environs. Richard has been responsible for some 25 recent journal publications arising from his post-excavation work. He has also contributed to the Solent-Thames Research Framework and the New Forest National Park Roman Research Framework.
