Grounds for election

Gillian King is Head of Developer Services London at MOLA, managing a team of 80. She has been a professional archaeologist for over 30 years, including 2013-2016: HE GLAAS curator for City of Westminster and seven other boroughs; 2016-2020: Southwark Council’s in-house Senior Planner (Archaeology). Gillian has advised on complex, multi-phase, urban, deeply stratified projects, and on some of the most iconic and internationally significant archaeological sites and buildings including the Rose, Globe and Hope Theatres, Palace of Westminster, Kew Gardens. She is an expert in planning law and author of key documents on policy, SPDs, APA Appraisals, HAZ/Listing and SAM applications, consultation responses and guidance documents. She won Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) status for Walworth in 2017 (over £2 million) for Southwark Council, has held the Freedom of the City of London since 1995 and won ‘Future London Leaders’ in 2019. She is an experienced public speaker.
