Since 2017 Dr Roberts has worked as a regional curator for the National Trust, with responsibility for significant properties across South-East England, including The Vyne and Mottisfont Abbey in Hampshire, and a range of sites and properties across the Trust’s Isle of Wight and South Downs portfolios, including Alfriston Clergy House and Mottistone Manor. Prior to his appointment at the National Trust, he was a buildings curator at the Tower of London for Historic Royal Palaces, working on the conservation of the Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula, as well as projects to preserve surviving houses and the medieval towers. Dr Roberts has wide-ranging research interests and has published widely on different aspects of material culture and architectural history. He serves as a trustee for Bursledon Brickworks Museum, Britain’s only surviving Victorian steam-powered brick manufactory.
