Grounds for election

The candidate has over 20 years’ experience in field archaeology. He is Head of Archaeology at the York Archaeological Trust, and previously was Regional Director at Trent & Peak Archaeology. He has directed a number of major archaeological schemes, including Nottingham’s Tram extension, Derby’s flood defences, and the Nottingham Castle transformation project. He holds a PhD on rural settlements in Anglo-Saxon Norfolk from the University of Nottingham, where he is a Research Fellow and has published his research in a number of journals, including Medieval Archaeology, Medieval Ceramics and Norfolk Archaeology. He has also contributed chapters to edited volumes, including on research excavations at Sedgeford, Norfolk, which he directed between 2000 and 2008. Recently, he has published journal articles on the development of early medieval Repton and Nottingham. He is a committee member of the Medieval Settlement Research Group, and reviews for the Archaeological Journal.
