Grounds for election

Dr Alexandra Gajda is Associate Professor of early modern history and John Walsh Fellow and Tutor in History at Jesus College, Oxford. She is an expert on the Elizabethan antiquary William Camden, and writes more widely on the relationship between antiquarian scholarship and political thinking in the Elizabethan and early Stuart period. She is also currently writing a history of Parliament and the Reformation in England. Her first monograph explored the intellectual activities of the circle of Robert Devereux, 2nd earl of Essex. With Henry Woudhuysen, she is editing the correspondence of Fulke Greville, First Lord Brooke. She is a Council member of the Church of England Record Society, and a General Editor of the series Politics, Culture and Society in Early Modern Britain for Manchester University Press.
