Grounds for election

Dr Fabio Silva is a university lecturer and prehistorian with research interests in the way humans perceive and conceive their environment. He has worked at UCL and Trinity Saint David College in the UK, and the Catalan Institute of Palaeoeconomy and Social Evolution in Spain. His current post involves computational modelling and statistical analysis of culture-dependent dispersal dynamics and palaeodemography. He has published widely on archaeoastronomy and the spread of early farming. The book Skyscapes, jointly edited with N Campion (Oxbow, 2015), established the field of skyscape archaeology, while his paper with J Steele in the Journal of Archaeological Science in 2014 developed new methods for analysing large-scale databases of radiocarbon dates. He is a founding co-editor of the Journal of Skyscape Archaeology established in 2015. In 2016 he was given a Carlos Jascheck Award for ‘outstanding contributions in the fields of cultural astronomy and archaeoastronomy’.
