Grounds for election

Heather has been a professional archaeologist for 33 years, and a Senior Archaeologist at MOLA since 1995. Heather’s major area of expertise is theatre archaeology, focusing on Elizabethan and Jacobean playhouses in London. She is leading the excavations, analysis and publication of the Theatre, the Curtain playhouse, and the Boar’s Head playhouse. Her work at the Theatre and the Curtain was instrumental in both sites being Scheduled and she worked with the design teams and consortium partners on all three sites to develop plans for public exhibition and performance spaces. Heather is on the advisory board of the AHRC funded project ''Before Shakespeare: The Beginnings of London Commercial Theatre” and is developing collaborations with theatre historians. Her research achieves direct impact by providing archaeological data to inform key decisions by planners, developers, architects and designers, making a valuable contribution to the cultural development of London.
