Grounds for election

Stuart Orton started his policing career with the Metropolitan Police in 1992, where he undertook a series of roles as a detective responsible for for the investigation of serious and organised crime. In 2006, Stuart transferred on promotion to Hertfordshire Constabulary, where he assumed the portfolio with responsibility for rural crime; anti-socialbehaviour; and, restorative justice. In 2012, Stuart became the Staff Officer for the National Police Chiefs’ Council Lead for Heritage and Cultural Property Crime. During his tenure he was instrumental in the development of the systems, processes and partnerships requisite in the prevention, investigation and enforcement of criminal offending within the historic environment. In his current role as District Commander for Hertfordshire Police, Stuart is working with heritage and faith sector partners to protect the historic environment through the introduction of innovative community-led risk assessment and heritage watch schemes.
