Grounds for election

Dr. Baquedano’s field is the art history and archaeology of Mesoamerica, particularly the Aztecs of Central Mexico. As Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL, she coordinates the Master’s course on the Americas and teaches Aztec Codices and Ethnohistory. She also coordinates a course on the Conquest of Mexico with Dr. Alex Samson at UCL-SELCS (School of European Languages, Culture & Society). She has taught a wide range of courses at academic institutions in Mexico and London. She runs the Annual Nahuatl Study Day held at the Institute and supervises both M.A. and Ph.D. students. She has received grants from the British Council, the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, Mexico City, and the British Mexican Society. Recently she was awarded a distinguished prize by the Mexican government. She has authored or co-authored seven books and edited or co-edited three, the most recent on Tezcatlipoca, in addition to publishing journal articles and book chapters.
