Dr Dennis Duncan is a historian of books, translation and literature, as well as a practicing printer focusing on historical European printing techniques. He was previously Munby Fellow in Bibliography, Cambridge University Library, and Lecturer in English at Birkbeck. His latest book is a history of the book index in Europe, focussing on the organisation of knowledge in medieval and early modern Europe. He has published widely on antiquarian topics including turntype errors in Shakespeare, and his other recent publications include co-editing a study of the history of individual parts of books and paratexts. He has curated exhibitions on the history of books, printing, and translation, most recently at the Bodleian Library. His public contributions to this field of antiquarian research include presenting conversations on the history of the book for the Bodleian Library.
