Grounds for election

David Fell is a leading field archaeologist, with interests ranging from the Neolithic to the Roman period. He has directed excavations at several major sites in northern England, including the highly important late Iron Age and Roman settlement at Scotch Corner, investigated with other sites prior to the upgrading of the Leeming to Barton section of the A1 in North Yorkshire. He is the author of the monograph Contact, Concord and Conquest: Britons and Romans at Scotch Corner (2020), co-author of two further monographs, Life of Brine? Bronze Age, Late Iron Age and Roman Occupation at Marsh House Farm, Greatham, Hartlepool (2018) and A Roman Roadside Settlement at Healam Bridge, The Iron Age to Early Medieval Evidence (2017). He has also authored or edited many other articles, chapters and client reports on a range of topics, and is currently researching the evolution of Dere Street in northern England.
