Grounds for election

Dr Limper-Herz is an expert on the history of early printed books, especially incunabula, book collecting in the 18th–19th centuries, and the history of bookbinding. She is responsible for all Western books printed 1450–1600 in the British Library. Her contributions to scholarship include undertaking advanced research, ensuring access to these collections (and all fifteenth-century printed books worldwide) by managing the Incunabula Short Title Catalogue, and an ongoing programme to digitise the British Library’s incunabula. She shares her expertise by exhibiting early printed material, publishing scholarly research, and teaching (eg London Rare Books School and the Rare Book School at the University of Virginia, where she offers an annual course on the history of bookbinding). She is Hon. Secretary and Vice-President of The Bibliographical Society and former Hon. Treasurer of the Rare Books and Special Collections Group, Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
