Grounds for election

Dr Gittos is an experienced and active historian with an academic background in literary study and a productive interest in integrating the study of commonly experienced ritual texts with the material context and social and cultural circumstances of the medieval past. She has authored and edited major books on the subject of liturgy and church architecture and layouts, and is currently engaged on a research project on English as 'the forgotten language of the pre-Reformation Church'. From 2018 to this year she was also co-investigator on the 'Worked in Stone' project to complete the British Academy Corpus of Anglo-Saxon Stone Sculpture.
