Grounds for election

Dr Wellings is a graduate of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge (Firsts in each case); a Methodist minister in full connection, currently in Oxford, he has maintained an active and uniformly respected role as scholar, lecturer, and author. He has edited volumes and contributed to volumes and journals. His specialism is church history of the 19th and 20th centuries. The flavour of his work is confirmed by his valued contributions to Studies in Church History, e.g. vols 47 and 48: ‘Commerce and Culture…’, pp. 334-45 and ‘The Literature of Silas and Joseph Hocking’, pp. 362-73; but it is both wider and deeper than this.
