Grounds for election
Ann-Marie Akehurst has been, since 2014, an Independent Researcher working on Early Modern architecture. Prior to that, she held a series of postdoctoral research positions, including a Paul Mellon Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, at the University of York. Her particular interest is in the history of both public health and the Quaker movement, and their relationship to architecture. Since 2008, she has published regularly in academic journals including, ‘Architectural History’ (2008, 2010), ‘The Georgian Group Journal’ (2011, 2019), ‘The Journal of Quaker Studies’ (2020). She has also contributed chapters to a number of edited books, including, Peter Guillery [ed], ‘Built from Below: British Architecture and the Vernacular‘ (Routledge, 2010) and Caroline van Eck and Sigrid de Jong [eds], ‘Companion to Architecture in the Age of the Enlightenment’ (Wiley, 2017). Ann-Marie is currently a Trustee and the Programmes Officer for the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain.
