Grounds for election

Dr Boyle has over 30 years’ experience as a professional osteologist and has made a major contribution to osteological research in Britain, having worked on significant assemblages such as the Viking mass grave at Weymouth and the individual from the Ferry Fryston chariot grave. She held various positions of authority at Oxford Archaeology 1990–2005, including Head of Heritage Burial Service – a service that she created. Her work spans the Neolithic to the post-medieval period over much of Britain. Her PhD (Edinburgh University) has transformed our understanding of the incidence of inter-personal violence (especially of blunt and sharp force trauma) in early medieval communities in south-east Scotland. She is currently working on an important Neolithic assemblage from a chamber tomb at Strathglebe, Skye. She has published extensively, has taught, and has lectured widely, including to the SAL and as keynote speaker at the Haskins Society Conference in Boston, Massachusetts.
