Grounds for election

Penny has been a prolific researcher on provincial Roman sculpture in Britain and the North West provinces of the Roman Empire. She was the lead author of the fascicule of the Corpus of Roman Sculpture for Britain dealing with London and the South East (2015). Subsequently she has been co-author of papers in Britannia on the Gloucester hoard of Roman Bronzes, and on the Sculpture from Stanwick,Northants. She has published on the Inveresk Mithraeum for a Babesch monograph and an important Roman sculpture in Peterborough Cathedral for the British Archaeological Association Monograph. She has always related insular evidence to the sculpture on the nearer continent, the subject of her doctoral thesis. She is an inspiring lecturer and has lectured to the Society and to the BAA which awarded her an Ochs Scholarship. She is an inspiration to the young, popularising antiquity for instance by writing a blog on her experiences, cycling the north-west frontier of the Roman Empire,
