Grounds for election

Warwick Gould is a textual historian who works closely with 19th and 20th century publishers’ archives. Founder-Director of the Institute of English Studies. Under his leadership, the Institute gathered international prestige as a centre for research projects, their innovation and promotion, as well as of pedagogical and outreach activities of all possible kinds (1999–2013). His own research centres on Irish Literature in English in the late Victorian and early 20th C., and the History of the Book. Publications include Joachim of Fiore and the Myth of the Eternal Evangel in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries with Marjorie Reeves FBA (Clarendon: 1987, rev. & enl., 2001) and co-editions of Yeats’s Mythologies (2005), The Secret Rose: Stories by W. B. Yeats: A Variorum Edition (1981; rev. & enl., 1992); The Collected Letters of W. B. Yeats Vol II (1997). Since 1983 he has edited Yeats Annual, the journal for advanced research into the life and work of the poet, W. B. Yeats.
