Grounds for election

Robert Athol is Archivist at Jesus College, University of Cambridge. Previously, he served as archivist at the University’s Clare, Trinity Hall and St Edmunds colleges and at Lincoln’s Inn. His work as Archives Advisor at The National Archives, Kew, included discovering and publishing on the extent of the UK’s University archival collections. Robert has curated numerous exhibitions in Scotland and England, for example sourcing national and local collections to celebrate the 40th anniversary of women’s admission to Cambridge Colleges. He has a long history of introducing and conducting multiple outreach activities including tours and lectures for academics, the general public, schools and special interest groups. He is well regarded for his many digitization projects; these have significantly enabled more widespread access to a variety of collections. His own research interests, on which he has published, include historical graffiti and eighteenth-century architecture
