Grounds for election

Following his Cambridge PhD on prehistoric technologies in Southeast Asia, Dr Ryan Rabett held post-doctoral research positions at Cambridge before being appointed Lecturer (2015) and Senior Lecturer (2018) in Human Palaeoecology at Queen’s University Belfast. He has published over 70 research papers and a highly-regarded monograph (CUP 2012) on the prehistory of Southeast Asia with particular emphasis on the adaptations of prehistoric societies to rainforest environments and on the implications of these for present day conservation and development. He has also published on the Greek Palaeolithic and on early human dispersals into North America. For the past decade he had led a highly successful interdisciplinary field project in the Tràng An National Park in Vietnam, the results of which formed an important component of Tràng An inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
