Grounds for election

David Oakey has fifteen years experience as a curator of decorative arts. He worked as Assistant to the Deputy Surveyor at Royal Collection Trust 2006-13 and as director of research for leading New York dealer Carlton Hobbs, 2013-2016. Since 2019 David has led the Furniture History Society's Events Committee, organizing on line lectures for an international audience, the annual symposium on George IV's Furniture in 2020 and planning events and tours for post-pandemic engagement. He has published articles in English Ceramic Circle, Furniture History and the Furniture History Society Newsletter. He contributed to Royal Collection publications The Queen's Year, 2010 and Victoria and Albert: Art and Love, 2010. David is an experienced public speaker and has lectured at the Wallace Collection and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has contributed on 'The Age of Empire and Industry: Architecture in Nineteenth Century Furniture' to A Cultural History of Furniture, forthcoming, 2021
