Curator & Head of Learning to the Weston Park Foundation in Staffordshire since 2006

Grounds for election

Gareth was previously a curator for the National Trust at Nostell Priory, responsible for the globally significant collections of Chippendale furniture and decorative art at that house. From 1998-2004 he was regional director for Sotheby’s in the north west of England, previously working in Bond Street. He lectures widely in the UK and in the USA, including lectures for the Attingham Trust, Royal Oak Foundation, Boston Athenaeum, and Colonial Williamsburg. He is author of Masterpieces from the Ford Collection (2011), The Country Houses of Shropshire (2021), and Weston Park: The House the Families and the Influence (forthcoming, June 2022). Scholarly articles have included: 'Beyond the needle's eye: Robert Adam's Huntwick Lodge at Nostell Priory, Yorkshire’, (Apollo April 2006); ‘The Hidden Hand of Genius: Robert Adam and the Pulteney Estate in Shropshire’ (Georgian Group Journal 2016); ‘Rome Behind the Battlements: James Byres at Sundorne, Shropshire’ (Georgian Group Journal 2018).
