Grounds for election

Dr Fowden established herself as an expert on Syria in Late Antiquity with her book, "The barbarian plain Saint Sergius between Rome and Iran" (1999). She has published two jointly authored books, "Contextualizing Late Greek Philosophy" (2008) and "Studies on Hellenism, Christianity and the Umayyads" (2009). She has just completed her study of the Parthenon in its phase as an Islamic mosque, on which she has a book forthcoming. She is currently a senior researcher on the ERC project, "The Impact of the Ancient City" and a Fellow of Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Centre of Islamic Studies, University of Cambridge.
