Grounds for election

Dr Fletcher has practised as an archaeologist for over 30 years, specialising in wetland environments, and for the last 12 years he has been an Inspector of Ancient Monuments for Historic England. His PhD evaluated cultural economics and the management of heritage through legislation and policy. He has extensive expertise in the field of conservation practice with a particular interest in the preservation of monastic sites and flint-built ruins. In his current role with Historic England, Dr Fletcher provides planning advice for strategic infrastructure projects; and, the delivery of measures to prevent crime in the historic environment, with a particular focus on the theft of metal from historic church buildings. Dr Fletcher has published extensively and has held the positions of research associate at the University of Manchester and University of Hull; and, research fellow at the University of Exeter, where he supervised students engaged in graduate and post-graduate studies.
