Associate Professor Ford is a leading archaeologist working in Papua New Guinea. She has researched and published on early colonisation at 50,000 years ago to recent developments in modern exchange networks along the Papuan South Coast. She has a number of current projects in the region and teaches archaeology at the University of Otago.
