Grounds for election

Philip is creator and series editor of a 3-volume history of the Welsh Marcher Lordships, and author of the first volume I: Central and North (2021). Further volumes will be published in 2022/3. He is also the author of On the Trail of the Mortimers (2016), co-author of The Ludlow Castle Heraldic Roll (2019), and published essays. He is invited by a large number of historical societies to give talks on the medieval history, and as secretary of the Mortimer History Society (MHS), Philip has played a key role in enabling it to become a thriving organisation that is attracting new members at a rapid rate, co-ordinating the very popular programme of conferences, talks, and study events. In addition he has organised, since its inception in 2016, the annual Essay Prize which encourages early career scholars to research Marcher history and to be published in the MHS Journal. All this activity is linked by a strong focus to make complex historical subjects accessible to any interested person.
