Grounds for election
Greg is a former archaeological consultant and County Archaeologist, and is now the Environment Agency’s Archaeologist for the South West. He has detailed knowledge of the archaeology of East Sussex with a particular strength in the Roman occupation of the Low Weald.
Greg has been active in the protection of archaeological remains by land management, particularly from plough damage and burrowing animals. Greg has published frequently in the Sussex Archaeological Collections and co-authored the historic environment aggregate resource assessment for East Sussex
Since 2019 Greg has successfully acted as the Agency’s historic environment advisor for the current £6bn capital programme. Projects include landscape restoration at Poole Harbour, with high archaeological interest for Holocene environments and prehistoric settlement
As a former chair to the Eastbourne Natural History and Archaeological Society and the Sussex Archaeology Forum Greg has a strong regard for local societies
