Formerly Head of Documentation at the British Museum, Tanya Szrajber is currently Collections Manager at the Goldsmiths‘ Company. Her major contribution to the knowledge of the antiquities and history of this and other nations has been in the development and promotion of the relatively new field of collection documentation. She played a major role in creating and enhancing the British Museum’s inhouse and then online database and has presented papers on cataloguing and digitisation at national and international conferences. She set high standards for cataloguing and for the creation of terminologies, including object nomenclature, materials, people and places, applicable to objects from all periods and all nations represented in the British Museum. They have been used as the models for other museum databases consulted by millions around the world, making history more universally available. She has also published articles on French prints and medals.
