Grounds for election
Dr Darryl Ogier, a renowned expert in Channel Islands history and law, gained his PhD at the University of Warwick in 1993. Since 1996 he has been archivist to the States of Guernsey and Archiviste de la Cour Royale. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and has regularly been a Senior Research Associate of Peterhouse, Cambridge. He is a member of the editorial board of the Jersey and Guernsey Law Review and a member of the Pôle Espaces maritimes, sociétés littorales, et interfaces portuaires of the Université de Caen. Dr Ogier’s many publications include books on Reformation and Society in Guernsey (Woodbridge, 1996) and The Government and Law of Guernsey (Guernsey, 2012) and papers including on Channel Islands history and law such as ‘Guernsey pilgrims and the injunctions of 1536’, Review of the Guernsey Society,(1997) and in 2009 ‘The nineteenth-century pursuit of archives’ in H. Sebire (ed.), Pursuits and Joys: great Victorian antiquaries and intellects.
