Grounds for election
Michelle is one of Australian archaeology's fast-rising stars, specialising in shell and bone artefacts. She took a First with a Dean’s Commendation for High Achievement and then an MPhil with an Australian Postgraduate Research Award before winning a Clarendon Scholarship for her DPhil at Oxford. After a stint researching at the Australian National University she was recruited to Griffith in 2017 on the basis of her winning an extremely competitive Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Research Award. She is now applying for a prestigious ARC Future Fellowship. Following publication of her Honours work in the Cambridge Archaeological Journal she has written 63 peer-reviewed papers, 15 book chapters, 3 edited volumes and 15 popular science articles. The quality of her research is reflected in a strong h-index of 19 (Google Scholar), i10-index of 31 (Google Scholar), and the publication of 4 papers in Nature Communications, Nature Human Behaviour, Science Advances and PNAS.
