Grounds for election
Adrian Randolph is the Henry Wade Rogers Professor of Art History at Northwestern University and Dean of its Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. He has published widely on the visual and material culture of 14th- and 15th-century Italy, with a special focus on the city of Florence. His interests focus on themes in early modern art, including the reception of the antique, love and friendship, and portrait prints and medals. Professor Randolph’s books include Engaging Symbols: Gender, Politics and Public Art in 15th-Century Florence (2002), which examined the social and political contexts in which spectators interacted with sculpture and painting, and Touching Objects: Intimate Experiences of Italian 15th-Century Art (2014), which discusses the role of the senses and gender in the apprehension of Renaissance art. He is also the editor of three collections of essays, and author of numerous articles and reviews.
