Grounds for election

Dan Poore is Chief Operating Officer at Oxford Archaeology, where he has worked for 30 years. In that time, he has managed many excavations, specialising in deeply-stratified urban sites. His excavations include Lankhills Roman cemetery in Winchester and the Thameslink excavations in Southwark, but he has worked particularly in the city of Oxford, for example at Oxford Castle and the Radcliffe Infirmary burial ground. Radcliffe will be printed in 2022, but his other sites have now been published in volumes and articles of which he is a lead author, including the recent monograph on Oxford Castle (2019; with J Munby, A Norton, and A Dodd); he has frequently lectured on the results. Dan has made a particular contribution to ensuring the quality and safe running of excavations through his work with CIfA and the Federation of Archaeological Managers and Employers. He has also been a keen advocate of working in partnership with others and has been integral to OA’s joint venture projects.
