Suzie Thomas is a Research Associate at Glasgow University collecting evidence of global trafficking in cultural objects & will shortly take up a Lectureship in Museology at Helsinki University. Her PhD explored the relationships between archaeologists & metal-detector users and she is a recognised expert on archaeology & metal detecting. She has spoken & chaired at numerous international conferences, including the EAA, WAC & SHA. Her research interests also include illicit trade in antiquities, & museum ethics & education. She worked for 3 years as the CBA Community Archaeology Support Officer & maintains an interest in community archaeology & the role of the voluntary sector in archaeology. She has published widely on all these topics. She is one of the founding editors of the new peer-reviewed Journal of Community Archaeology & Heritage. She holds an honorary Research Associateship in York University & in 2012 was elected a member of the Board of Directors for Archaeology Scotland
