Grounds for election

David Petts is Lecturer in the Archaeology of Northern England and Director of Research for Archaeological Services at the University of Durham. Research interests include the social archaeology of the 1st millennium AD and in particular the development of Christianity. He directs excavations at the Roman fort of Binchester (Co Durham), with colleagues from Durham County Council and US Universities and has undertaken research on Early Medieval Wales and Normandy and Lindisfarne. He has a strong interest in developing Community participation in archaeology. Publications include: Pagan and Christian (2011); The Early Medieval Church in Wales (2009), Christianity in Roman Britain (2003) and (with C Gerrard & others) Shared Visions: The North-East Regional Research Framework (2006), & with S Turner edited Early Medieval Northumbria: Kingdoms and Communities AD450-1100. Published papers include considerations of multiple church complexes, burial and Early Medieval Northumbria.
