Dr Boucher is a leading authority on Renaissance art and architecture and has had a distinguished career in universities and museums. He is currently Director of the Art Museum of the University of Virginia, having previously been a senior curator of the Art Institute of Chicago and before that Professor of the History of Art at University College London. Amongst the exhibitions he has organised or been a member of the organising committee for are ‘Andrea Palladio’ (1975), ‘The Genius of Venice’ (1984), and ‘Earth and Fire: Italian Terracotta Sculpture from Donatello to Canova’ (2002). His publications include ‘Andrea Palladio, 1508-1580’ (1975), ‘The Sculpture of Jacopo Sansovino’ (1991), Andrea Palladio: the Architect in his time (1994), and ‘Italian Baroque Sculpture’ (1998).
