Grounds for election

Richard Allen is Archivist at Magdalen College, Oxford, and an Associate Member of the History Faculty, University of Oxford. He was previously Archivist and Research Fellow at St Peter’s College, Oxford (2015–21), a Junior Research Fellow at St John’s College, Oxford (2009–14), and a postdoctoral researcher at the Université de Caen (2012–13). He is considered to be one of the leading scholars internationally within his chosen specialisms (diplomatics, ecclesiastical history of northern France), having published over 30 articles in British, French, and American journals. He maintains strong links with various professional and learned societies in France, collaborating with researchers at institutions such as the DHI Paris, the École nationale des chartes, and the École Pratique des Hautes Études. Such connections not only inform and facilitate his research, but ensure that its findings are disseminated widely to a network of scholars based outside of the British Isles.
