Dr Bell is an authority on the economy and trade of the Eastern Mediterranean in the period of the Bronze Age–Iron Age transition. She has published widely on this subject in peer-reviewed journals and monographs. In addition, she has also taken leading roles in academic organizations, most recently as the Chair of the British School at Athens and as Vice President of the National Museum of Wales.
