Career: 2010-12 English Heritage, Policy & Projects, characterisation studies of places of worship nationally. 2012-15 Grants Officer, (London Planning & Conservation Office) with responsibility for management of grant aid and administration of statutory casework in four London boroughs. 2015- 2015 Senior Planning Officer for the City of London Corporation, managing change across a spectrum of historic buildings and places from Roman remains to postmodernism.
MSc dissertation (part-funded by the Association for Industrial Archaeology) considered the interiors of wave-swept lighthouses in the British Isles - received a Trustee Commendation in the 2016 IHBC Gus Astley Awards. While working in the City, Tom maintained a passion for seascapes and became fascinated with offshore rock lighthouses, a topic that became the subject of his critically acclaimed first book.
